Soon afterward, NaTasha came back. “They have seen me, full view.” She smiled, the plan already in process.
Darkaî returned the look in a much more malevolent way. “Excellent.”
“Come on, my freaky people!” Alex shouted to his humanoid comrades. “Call your dragons!”
Sissca whistled for Fatani as did many included in her group. She soared in a few moments later, making sure to keep herself hidden.
Are we leaving? she asked excitedly with her mind.[6]
“Yes,” Sissca replied sadly. Hopping on Fatani’s back, she placed herself in a ready position, feet up under her wing joints. Pulling back and pushing her heels into Fatani’s scaled sides, they began to fly. Sissca made sure to keep Fatani flying low so that no one could see them.
The others were on their dragons by now as well, and Alex, on a borrowed Zlaeká Krania[7], he began to issue commands softly. “We’re going to fly low against the mountainside until we reach our designated post. Then we wait. Again, ready yourselves for avalanches, they’ll be coming at us fast and probably with no warning. Everyone ready?”
His mini-speech wasn’t exactly enticing, but they nodded slowly.
“Good. We roll!”
Alex took off first and the others followed behind him in rows of two.
Flying along the ravine was simple enough for Sissca, being rather experienced at the whole act. But as the slope of the mountain came together, the ride became rough. Dodging trees in a tightly compact forest was no picnic, and Sissca managed to earn herself several scratches before the fighting even began.
Reaching a cliff, the assembly landed themselves slowly and settled under the face of a cliff, unseen by anyone above and with a clear view below. Archers readied their arrows in case they needed them suddenly, but left them un-nocked. Healing her and the others minor injuries, Sissca wanted to make sure no one was left even the slightest bit vulnerable when the Zikkanians attacked.
“Get ready,” Alex said under bated breath.
“No one above,” Darkaî’s sister, IcelaVercka, whispered, coming down from the top of the cliff to check for the enemy.
“Good,” came the reply.
And for a while, silence, only exception being Sissca’s magic, which also stopped after a bit. Hardly anyone dared to breath and Sissca kept running over

Vercka came down again a while later, looking a bit frantic. “They’re at the bend! They’re at the bend!” she whispered frantically to Alex.
